MEET THE KIX 106 CREW

KYLE HELMS

Kyle was born March 25 ,1963 in West Helena, AR, attended Central High School until he moved to Clarksville in 1979 as a junior in high school and graduated in 1981 and has resided in Johnson county ever since. Kyle and his wife Donna have been married for 15 years. Kyle has a 20 year old son Nick, and he and Donna have 1 child Jalen who is a 7th grader at Clarksville.
 
Kyle and Donna have been in the Sonic business since he went to work in the family business in 1987 and currently are involved in all stores in Clarksville and Russellville, they also own rental property in Pope and Johnson county.
 
Kyle enjoys most all sports and like Blaine is a big Razorback fan and also a St. Louis Cardinal fan. Kyle enjoys playing golf and coaching kids in all sports and of all ages as evidenced by his 39 seasons of coaching baseball, football, and basketball in ages ranging from 6 to 22 years of age. He is currently coaching the Clarksville Diamondback travel team. He started coaching this team when the boys were 6 & 7 years old and now they are 13 year olds.
 
Kyle attended the College of the Ozarks and graduated in 1986 with a B.S. Physical Education and played a fall season of baseball and studied under several C of O legends such as Lonnie and Lavada Qualls, and Jerry Wagoner. While in high school Kyle played basketball his only year at Clarksville, for now Athletic Director Gary Thompson. He played baseball for the legendary great baseball coach Dave Ross and was voted team MVP by his teammates in 1981,as the team won the district tournament and the schools 1st ever regional championship.
 
Kyle’s involvement in coaching began at a early age as he coached American Legion Baseball for 7 years, from 1984 to 1990 ,winning over 200 games during that span with a state runner up finish in 1985. Kyle returned to coaching in 1996 at the request of former U of O coach and now Little Rock School District Athletic Director, Johnny Johnson for a tenure of 5 years where he was named assistant coach of the year in 2000.
 
Kyle’s interest in broadcasting began January of 2005 as he was color analyst for Eagle and Lady Eagle Basketball and subsequently Panther and Lady Panther basketball before becoming play by play man for the lady panthers in 2006 and will be the play by play for all Eagle basketball in 2006-2007. Kyle also is Play by Play for Lamar Warriors football and Lamar Basketball.
 
Kyle looks forward to helping the radio station build new relationships with schools from around the county.
